Zombie Leaders?

I must admit, I am a fan of most zombie movies. Dawn of the Dead 1978 and 2004 are my favorites. Last week, a speaker in my Vistage group described one CEO as a "Zombie CEO." He went on to explain that the leader would pursue something in one direction for a while, then be bumped and moved to something in another direction, and so forth. Like a zombie....moving from one thing to the next.

I then realized that we had operated in this manner in the past and that I have some current managers who are still employing the "zombie" approach. I brought in my Halloween robot and added a little sign. I have since spoken to all my managers to develop a plan with details and execute it in a singular, continuous effort until it is completed.

No Peter Drucker moment......but, we are on a better path!
